New operational aerodromes

(a) Pat Heung. 300 acres. Capitalised Crown rent
of $17.000 is asked by the Hong Kong Government in addition to $109,000 psid in respect of resuming privately owned land. It may not be possible to avoid the acquisition of further land for anti-malarial purposes but requirements are not yet settled and estimates of cost are not available.
(b) Ha Tauen. Precise requirements are not yet
settled and estimates are not available.
Depot.
Repair and maintenance facilities additional to those in existence for Fleet Air Arm purposes will be required for the additional Royal Air Force units, A new site, not yet selected, will be necessary for this purpose.

The general position with regard to land required for Air Force purposes in various overseas territories may be summarised as follows:-
Singapore, The site for the Air Dass at Seletar
like that of the Naval Base was purchased by the Singapore Government and placed at the disposal of the Air Ministry free of charge.
The cost of subsequent extensions on private land has been defrayed by the Air Ministry but Government land has been placed at the disposal of the Air Ministry without charge except in regard to compensation to settlers, etc.
Ceylon.
The site for the new aerodrome at Trincomali has been placed at the disposal of the Air Ministry free of charge.
Malta,
All land required for new aerodromes was in private ownership and the cost of acquisition is being defrayed from Air Votes.
Sudan,
Land and Buildings for Air Force purposes have been provided by the Sudan Government at their own expense, a small contribution being paid in respect of the upkeep of landing grounds required for general strategic as opposed to local defence purposes,
